Support for dental nurses stepped up
Support for dental nurses stepped up
Although the curve is flattening, these are still challenging times for all of us. As the professional association for dental nurses, BADN are here for and continues to offer information and support to all dental nurses, including up-to-date and reliable information regarding Covid-19 and its effects on primary dental care and dental nurses, plus a range of services available to specifically to those dental nurses who are BADN members.
We have lowered our membership fees
BADN has temporarily lowered its Full Membership fee to £30 for the duration of this crisis. This decision was made by the Executive Committee (who are all working dental nurses who volunteer their time and expertise to support the dental nursing profession) so enable us to support members, ease their financial commitments, but continue to provide the full service which comes with BADN membership.
We are aware that many dental nurses who have not supported their professional association in the past are now turning to us for information and support – which we are providing. We would ask those non-member dental nurses to now in turn support BADN by joining at the reduced fee – and find out about the wide range of benefits membership of their professional association actually offers! For less than £1 a week!
BADN’s only income is from membership fees, so it is only with the support of dental nurses that we can continue to support dental nurses themselves. Many of the services we provide require a financial commitment from BADN, so are only available to current members.
Legal Helpline
We realise that many dental nurses face difficulties during the pandemic, whether reduced hours, wages, furlough scheme, voluntary redeployment, or home-related worries. Our legal helpline is available to current members, with legal advisors who are ready to offer advice on the steps to be taken to deal with those challenges.
BADN Rewards Scheme
The BADN Rewards scheme offers members access to hundreds of products, offers, and exclusive deals – including many offers that can help save money or find solutions to reducing expenses during Covid-19.
Health & Wellbeing Hub
Recently, we introduced a brand-new Health & Wellbeing section in our Rewards Scheme, dedicated to providing information and support to help dental nurse members maintain their health.
Wellbeing Support Service
As part of our mission to support dental nurses, we are offering members access to a wellbeing support from our partner, Health Assured.
Members can gain access to the industry leading Health e-Hub and online portal - a library of wellbeing resources to help people overcome life's mental, physical, and financial challenges.
Members can also benefit from a free 24/7, 365 confidential helpline, putting them in touch with qualified counsellors and advisors to support and help in time of need.
Keeping you informed about the latest Coronavirus advice
There is a great deal of information and advice regarding Covid-19 and its effects on primary dental care, much of which may not seem relevant. To help dental nurses in accessing the most relevant information available, we have created a Coronavirus Section on our website, where the latest advice and guidance for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, including Financial Support section and other useful links and sources, can be found.
The information we release is the official advice and information provided by reputable sources. BADN has taken the decision not to post on any other social media, other than our own Facebook page or website, to avoid becoming involved in the recirculation of misinformation, speculation and rumour so prevalent on other forums and causing so much anxiety and distress.
You can view our Coronavirus Section here.
BADN's 80th Anniversary celebrations are on hold until a decision is taken regarding The Dentistry Show - it may be that our association will celebrate next year instead. Our 80th Anniversary Afternoon Tea is likely to be rescheduled, as is our 80th Anniversary Drinks Reception scheduled for 1 July 2020 in central London.
Information about our British Dental Nurses' Journal
The Winter 2020 edition is available to read. Members can access the journals online to read a digital copy. Spring 2020 edition is due to be released by the end of May. Please note this may change, due to current crisis. Back editions, with their included CPD, are also available through the members’ area of our website www.badn.org.uk.
Email and telephone support
We continue to offer our support to all dental nurses during this difficult time. As you can imagine we are receiving a higher number of calls than usual and as we have now adapted our way of working, as per government guidelines, we ask that dental nurses email us instead of calling. enquiries@badn.org.uk
