To assist dental professionals who have qualified-oversees to improve their understanding of what it means to work in a regulated profession. How to maintain ongoing registration with the GDC, how to practice safely and avoid facing a Fitness to practise investigation.
Aims
To support overseas-qualified dentists in understanding the role of the General Dental Council (GDC), the process of registration, and the responsibilities of working within a regulated profession in the UK. The session will also cover continuing professional development (CPD), ethical obligations, and how to avoid Fitness to Practise investigations.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the GDC’s role in UK dental regulation - Understand the process of GDC registration and renewal steps - Identify CPD and revalidation requirements and how to meet them -Recognise the standards of professional conduct expected by the GDC - Understand patient consent and how to meet patient expectations - Be aware of Fitness to Practise and where to seek support if facing an investigation.
