Delayed versus immediate implant placement in the upper anterior region

Learning Content

Advantages of immediate implant placement versus delayed in an upper anterior case.

Aims

To cover main learning points for clinical practice for advantages of immediate implant placement versus delayed in an upper anterior case.

Learning Outcomes

  • Case selection is critical when choosing between immediate and delayed implant placement, particularly in the anterior zone. Immediate placement can preserve buccal bone and gingival contours, reduce treatment time and enhance aesthetics, but only when ideal conditions exist. Delayed placement remains a safe, predictable option in compromised sites, allowing healing, risk reduction and stability.
