From foundation to future: career pathways for young dentists

Learning Content

The session will explore the core features of NHS dentistry, private dentistry, CDS roles and hospital posts, focusing on daily working life, clinical responsibilities, training needs, progression opportunities and work–life balance. Panellists will share practical experiences and advice on developing skills, managing early‑career expectations, and moving between different sectors.

Aims

This session aims to give early‑career dentists a clear and practical understanding of the main career pathways available within dentistry. Through insights from clinicians working in NHS practice, private practice, Community Dental Services, and hospital roles, attendees will gain a realistic picture of what each option involves and how to navigate their early career choices with confidence.
