This presentation explores the integration of comprehensive oral care into the multidisciplinary management of patients with head and neck cancer. It highlights the impact of cancer treatments on oral health, outlines evidence-based mouth care strategies across the care continuum, and emphasises collaboration among oncology, dental, and allied health professionals to improve treatment tolerance, reduce complications, and enhance patient quality of life.

Aims

The aim of this lecture is to increase awareness, knowledge, and clinical confidence in integrating effective oral care into the multidisciplinary management of patients with head and neck cancer, in order to reduce oral complications, support treatment delivery, and improve patient quality of life across the cancer care pathway.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to recognise the critical role of oral care in the overall management of patients with head and neck cancer and understand how oral health directly influences treatment outcomes and quality of life. Participants will gain insight into common oral complications and appreciate the clinical implications of these conditions.
