Orthodontics is one thing, understanding where to place and restore teeth for occlusion, function and aesthetics is another. The relationship between Orthodontics and Occlusion has often been considered as two separate areas of dentistry, but indeed they are one and the same. Ortho-occlusion is the optimisation of tooth position without interferences and maximising protective function for our patients natural teeth, and moreover, any restorative work that is completed post-orthodontics.
This lecture is designed to help you understand how diagnose, and to plan and control the aligner component of ABB (Align, bleach and bond) which can be used not only to improve appearance but to improve function, guidance, and gain better long term occlusal stability in your cases. Shiraz Khan and Tif Qureshi will provide a unique and fun double act to help you understand these concepts

Aims

this lecture will outline the principles of occlusion, understanding the role of the TMJ, musculature and indeed teeth in relation to function. it will cover the aligner planning protocols and techniques that will allow you to carry out ABB predictably with ideal occlusal outcome. This involves ortho- restorative examination, to enable you to diagnose and provide a diagnosis based prescription
