This lecture provides hygienists and therapists with an overview of orthodontic principles relevant to clinical practice, focusing on the recognition of malocclusion, the role of the IOTN and the perio-ortho and perio-OSA interface.
Emphasis will be placed on the early detection, education and collaborative care within the dental team.
Aims
Gain confidence in carrying out an Orthodontic Clinical Exam
Describe the Index of Treatment Need (IOTN) and it’s importance in everyday clinical practice
Discuss the clinical impact of the Orthodontic-Periodontal interface
Describe the link between Periodontal disease and OSA
