This lecture provides hygienists and therapists with an overview of orthodontic principles relevant to clinical practice, focusing on the recognition of malocclusion, the role of the IOTN and the perio-ortho and perio-OSA interface.
Emphasis will be placed on the early detection, education and collaborative care within the dental team.
Aims
To gain confidence in carrying out an Orthodontic Clinical Exam - To describe the Index of Treatment Need (IOTN) and it’s importance in everyday clinical practice - To discuss the clinical impact of the Orthodontic-Periodontal interface - To describe the link between Periodontal disease and OSA.
