Learning Content
Only 29% of patients floss daily, despite consistent advice. This session explores why compliance remains low and how to change it. The speaker shares the story behind Tahir Oral Care, founded after complications from Crohn’s and IBD. Following life-saving surgery in 2024, he named the company after the surgeon who saved his life, Tahir, and outlines ways to improve patient compliance.
Aims
To explore why patient adherence to interdental cleaning remains low and to provide practical, behaviour-based strategies to improve compliance. The session will also highlight innovation and clinical research, including a short discussion with Dr Ali Golkari on the ongoing electric flosser trial at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand why patients struggle to maintain daily interdental cleaning habits
- Recognise the behavioural and practical barriers to flossing compliance
- Identify simple, effective ways to improve patient adherence in practice
- Learn about the Tahir Electric Flosser clinical trial led by Dr Ali Golkari and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (QMUL)
