Learning Content
This lecture provides a structured, evidence-informed approach to assessing and managing tooth wear using direct composite resin as a minimally invasive, additive strategy. It will cover classification and risk assessment, diagnosis of aetiology (erosion, attrition, abrasion and parafunction), and stepwise treatment planning. Clinical protocols will be addressed in detail, including adhesive principles, material selection, occlusal management (including the Dahl concept where indicated), isolation, layering, contouring, finishing/polishing, and maintenance/repair. The session will also address patient communication, consent, longevity expectations, and common causes of failure.
Aims
To enable learners to competently assess tooth wear and plan, deliver, and maintain minimally invasive tooth wear management using direct composite restorations.
