Emma has over 25 years of experience as a dental nurse and oral health educator. She worked for over 17 years as a dental nurse specialist and oral health educator at the Pennine Acute Hospital Trust in Manchester. The last 7 of those years she worked as the Macmillian Oral Health Practitioner, the only role of its kind in the UK. During this time, she has presented both nationally and internationally on the importance of oral health. Emma was the first member of the wider dental team to be appointed to the UKOMIC panel.
In November 2014, Emma was privileged to be invited to speak in Parliament at the launch of mouth cancer awareness and has since been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Dental Nursing Award.
In her role as Educational Director at RIS products, Emma has continued her work in hospital and care home settings. She has developed resources for carers and allied healthcare professionals to support oral care for those dependent on others for mouth care and heads up contractual work in the Northwest and is delivering vital work in the Christie's setting. Emma presented an academic poster at the Society of British Geredontology and was acknowledged as the winner of the service improvement initiative. Emma is an established author and speaker, internally and nationally. She supports the Mouth Cancer Foundation charity and Age Uk, with a specific interest in people affected by dementia.
Emma is the membership secretary for the Society of British Dental Nurses.
