Dr Saagarika Sharma is a PhD researcher at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy, where her research focuses on periodontal and peri-implant inflammation, salivary proteomics, and oral–systemic health links, particularly cardiovascular implications. She is a qualified overseas dentist and a part-time lecturer in Biomedical Science and Biology at International College Portsmouth. Her experience includes clinical research methodologies, vascular function assessment, and evidence-based scientific communication.
In addition to her academic role, Dr Sharma has contributed to Care Quality Commission (CQC) compliance activities within UK dental practice settings, supporting clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance processes. Her work emphasises risk assessment, holistic care, and translational research in dentistry.
